President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has issued a directive to take immediate measures to remove disparity in the purchase of liquid milk.
The President’s Media Division (PMD) said the instructions had been given to Minister of Agriculture Mahindananda Aluthgamage and State Minister of Livestock, Farm Promotion and Dairy & Egg Related Industries D. B. Herath.
The President had made this observation while inspecting the Milco Factory in Narahenpita this morning (25).
The PMD further said that the President took this decision with the objective of empowering the dairy farmer and promoting the consumption of liquid milk.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has also instructed the two officials to purchase a litre of milk from local dairy farmers for Rs. 100.
State Minister D. B. Herath said that the purchase of milk from local dairy farmers at the said price will commence with effect from tomorrow (26). (NewsWire)
