Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara says he cannot perform duties as a Minister in the Cabinet following the removal of Ministers Wimal Weerawansa and Udaya Gammanpila.

The Minister further said that he will step away from his duties and will refrain from attending Cabinet meetings until the Government takes corrective measures.

“I will not resign from the ministerial portfolio, but I will not go to a cabinet meeting and will not fulfill any ministerial responsibilities,” Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara said.

Minister Nanayakkara also said that if the President wants he can sack him as well.

Ministers Wimal Weerawansa and Udaya Gammanpila were removed from their ministerial portfolios following a minor Cabinet reshuffle yesterday.

MP Wimal Weerawansa earlier held the post of Minister of Industries, while MP Udaya Gammanpila was the Minister of Energy.

Both the Ministers have been highly critical of the Government’s conduct in the recent past. (NewsWire)
