Sri Lanka settles payment to release another ship with diesel

Sri Lanka has settled payment of US$ 39.3 million to release another fuel tanker that had docked at the Colombo Port this morning.

The Ministry of Energy said the payment was made to the Singaporean Company for the tanker that was carrying diesel and jet fuel.

The oil tanker consists of 28, 300 Metric Tonnes of diesel and 9000 Metric Tonnes of jet fuel.

The Ministry of Energy further said that the unloading of the diesel and jet fuel will commence tomorrow morning (05). 

Sri Lanka had earlier settled payments of USD 35.3 million and USD 31 million to this Singaporean company for two shipments of diesel.

The payment was made to release oil tankers with 37,500 metric tonnes and 37,300 metric tonnes of diesel, respectively. (NewsWire)
