Former Minister Wimal Weerawansa has slammed Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa over the latter’s statement with regard to the persisting fuel crisis.
Addressing a gathering over the weekend, the Prime Minister said there was no real fuel crisis in the country but an artificial demand was created because of some improper communication.
He said that fuel tankers were docked at the Port, and only unloading and distribution were left, adding that in the past there were times when fuel was available only for 24 hours.
Commenting on the statement, MP Weerwansa said he was saddened by the Prime Minister’s comment on the matter, adding that it was a foolish statement.
Stating that a fuel crisis does not occur due to a lack of fuel for a few days, MP Weerawansa challenged the Government to completely resolve the fuel crisis in the coming days. (NewsWire)
