Newly-appointed Minister of Industries S.B. Dissanayake assumed duties at the Ministry of Power yesterday (07).
Addressing the media, Minister S.B. Dissanayake said the Ministry will explore establishing a nuclear power plant.
The Minister said that it will help resolve the electricity crisis in Sri Lanka.
Minister Dissanayake pointed out that Sri Lanka has Thorium which can be used to develop the nuclear power plant.
He further said Sri Lanka should not be afraid to partner with foreign investors, adding that foreign investors are essential for the development of the country.
Stating that former Industries Minister Wimal Weerawansa had worked to create a change in the industry, Minister Dissanayake said his successful projects will be continued under his tenure. (NewsWire)
