Murder: Woman’s body found four days later in Kiribathgoda

The body of a woman has been found from a house in the Mudiyansalage Watte area in Kiribathgoda. 

The Police said it is believed that the woman may have been murdered four days ago. 

The body had been found by the Kiribathgoda Police following information given by area residents via the Police emergency hotline. 

The Police said the body had been covered up by a stock of floor tiles and was found in a rotten state.

Stating that the body belongs to a woman aged around 35-years, they said it is suspected that she had been murdered after being sexually molested. 

A man is reported to have arrived at the house to carry out repair works, while investigations are being conducted based on the CCTV footage at the house.

The Police further said that prescriptions that had been obtained from the National Institute of Mental Health in Angoda had been found at the scene of the crime.

The body of the deceased has been placed at the Colombo North Teaching Hospital, while the Kiribathgoda Police has launched investigations to apprehend the suspects wanted over the murder. (NewsWire)
