The issues pertaining to the opening of Letters of Credit (LC) and payments for LP gas have been resolved, Litro Gas Lanka announced today.

The gas supplier said that the issues were resolved following a discussion held with relevant authorities last night.

Litro Gas said that the unloading, filling, and distribution from the Litro Gas Storage Terminal at Kerawalapitiya had already commenced last night.

The LP gas supplier announced that the distribution of gas will be restored today as the issues have been resolved.

Earlier it was reported that a gas shortage has once again occurred in Sri Lanka due the primary gas suppliers being unable to open LCs due to the dollar crisis.

However, Litro Gas announced that the unloading of Liquid Petroleum (LP) gas from a ship had commenced on Tuesday (08).

An official from Litro Gas said that 2500 metric tonnes of LP gas was unloaded from a ship anchored off the coast of Sri Lanka.

The LP gas was unloaded from the ship to the Litro Gas storage terminal at Kerawalapitiya.

Stating that the distribution of gas had commenced on the same day, he said the company was able to provide the necessary stocks of gas to the consumers by afternoon. (NewsWire)
