Police says that a message circulating in social media with 22 points and titled “Be Careful, Economic Crisis” alleged to have been issued by Sri Lanka Police is fake.
The Police media division issuing a statement insisted that such a message was not issued by the police to any media institution and that such fake messages cause disrepute to the police department.
It further reiterated that if the police department intends to issue any communication or message for the general public, it would be issue by the police media division through an official press release.
The Police media statement further requested the general public to be cautious about such fake messages and investigations are being carried out to apprehend those who created these fake messages. (NewsWire)
