Several Government officials have extended their support to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa amidst the ongoing economic crisis in Sri Lanka.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa can resolve the current economic crisis of Sri Lanka, the Additional Director General of the Government Information Department Milinda Rajapaksa assured today.

Stating that the country is battling the most serious economic crisis ever faced, Rajapaksa tweeted that it is something the whole world is undergoing.

“The queues are not only limited to Sri Lanka. The raging cost of living is not only in Sri Lanka. The global crisis is now affecting us,” he said.

Milinda Rajapaksa pointed out that together Sri Lanka ended the war.

“Together we got vaccinated & fought Covid back. Now we take a stand together & fight this economic crisis together,” he said.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said Sri Lanka is currently facing the greatest economic crisis this world has seen.

Stating that Sri Lanka is now feeling its effects, the Minister Tweeted that the country must come together.

“Together we ended the war. Together we got vaccinated & fought #COVID19SL. Now we stand together & fight this economic crisis together. #WeAreWithGota,” he said.

The two Government officials’ statements come after several people on social media called for President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to step down.

#GoHomeGota was seen trending on social media, prompting a response from Milinda Rajapaksa and Minister Keheliya Rambukwella.

The Government has launched its own campaign, showing its support for the President with #WeAreWithGota. (NewsWire)
