Minister of Water Supply Vasudeva Nanayakkara is reported to have returned his official residence and vehicle back to the Government.

The Secretary to the Ministry of Water Supply confirmed that the Minister has handed over his official residence and vehicle.

The Minister, who is also said to be boycotting Cabinet meetings, has decided to use a small vehicle of his relation.

Vasudeva Nanayakkara was seen handing over his luxury Land Cruiser and leaving the Ministry premises in a Maruti car.

However, Vasudeva Nanayakkara has revealed that he will not resign from his Ministerial portfolio.

Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara’s actions come after MPs Udaya Gammanpila and Wimal Weerawansa were sacked from their ministerial portfolios of Energy and Industries, respectively.

Following the sacking of MPs Gammanpila and Weerawansa, Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara had informed the Government that he is unable to carry out his ministerial duties.

Holding a press conference along with MPs Gammanpila and Weerawansa, the Minister slammed the President and the Government’s decision to sack the two senior members from their ministerial posts.

The trio has been critical of the Government’s conduct in the recent past, blaming it for the current economic crisis. (NewsWire)
