The Ministry of Energy has warned that the shortage of diesel could worsen if the public continues to unnecessarily stock up on diesel.
Secretary to the Ministry K.D.R. Olga said this could lead to the situation becoming uncontainable.
She called on the public to refrain from unnecessarily stocking up on diesel.
Stating that there were issues pertaining to the import of fuel, Olga said that, however, the Ministry has taken necessary measures to address the issues.
Sri Lanka is facing a fuel shortage due to a lack of US dollars.
The public has been forced to wait in long queues for several hours at fuel stations due to a lack of fuel.
The shortage of fuel has also resulted in long spells of power cuts to be imposed in the country over the last few weeks. (NewsWire)
