Govt-affiliated party to boycott All-Party Conference

The Ceylon Workers Congress (CWC) has become the latest party to boycott the All-Party Conference (APC) scheduled for Wednesday (23).

State Minister and General Secretary of the CWC Jeevan Thondaman said the Government-affiliated party will not attend the conference.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had called for an All-Party Conference to be held on Wednesday (23) to discuss measures to address the current economic crisis of Sri Lanka. 

Earlier today, several political parties announced they have decided to boycott the All-Party Conference.

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) National Organizer Tissa Attanayake said the Opposition party will not participate in the Conference.

The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, too, announced that it will boycott the conference.

The National Freedom Front (NFF) led by ex-Minister Wimal Weerawansa and the Pivithuru Hella Urumaya of former Minister Udaya Gammanpila also said they will not attend the conference. 

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) is the only party that has announced that it will participate in the All-Party Conference. 

However, the United National Party (UNP) is yet to reveal its stance on the conference. (NewsWire)
