A fire has broken out in illegally constructed slum houses in the Kanji Mawatha area on Ferguson Road in Grandpass early this morning.
The Police said among the 200 illegally set up slum houses, nearly 23 had been completely destroyed in the fire.
However, no casualties or injuries have been reported in the incident.
The fire has been doused by five fire brigades, together with the help of the Police and area residents.
The cause for the fire is yet to be ascertained, while the Grandpass Police is conducting further investigations. (NewsWire)
