The request by Sri Lanka for further financial assistance from Bangladesh is under consideration, Bangladesh Foreign Minister A.K. Abdul Momen said.
Talking to reporters yesterday, he said Sri Lanka has requested another US$ 250 million as a currency swap.
This is in addition to the previous US$ 250 million that was offered by the Bangladesh Bank (BB).
The repayment period of the previous loan was extended by the Bangladesh Bank, the country’s Foreign Minister revealed.
Abdul Momen added that the latest request for another loan is currently under examination.
Stating that Bangladesh is monitoring the situation, he said they are also assessing how things will evolve and depending on the situation will make a decision on Sri Lanka’s request. (NewsWire)
