Saving fuel : Directive from Prime Minister

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has issued a special directive to his Office and the ministries operating under his purview.

The Prime Minister has instructed his office staff and the staff of ministries under his purview to work from home.

The directive exempts those falling under the essential services category.

The Prime Minister’s Office said the Prime Minister has issued special instructions in order to save fuel.

Sri Lanka is in the midst of a severe fuel crisis. The lack of fuel has affected power generation and the transportation sector.

Power cuts for over 10-hours have been imposed across the country over the past few weeks, while long queues have also been reported at fuel stations as a result. (NewsWire)
