The Opposition, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has rejected President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s invitation to join hands to form an all-party interim Government to resolve the current national crisis.

Addressing a special media briefing held at the party headquarters today, the SJB Leader Sajith Premadasa said the party will never make an agreement or form an administration with the Gotabaya Rajapaksa-led Government.

Meanwhile, SJB MP Rajitha Senaratne said, “the public’s request is for Gota to go home, we will support that course and will not accept any positions under the Rajapaksas.”

Stating that this is the last few days of the Rajapaksa Government’s tenure, he said the SJB will not provide any form of assistance for them to regain power.

“The public is calling for Gota to go home and for the Rajapaksas to go home. We stand with the public’s calls,” the MP said.

Rajith Senaratne further said that the SJB has no wish or need to work with the Rajapaksas or those who were with the Rajapaksas.

The MP added that the SJB will only accept a Government with the endorsement of the public and the leadership of SJB leader Sajith Premadasa.

“It could be a Presidential election, Parliamentary election, or local government election. We will only form a government with the blessings of the public,” he said.

Calling on the Rajapaksas to resign, the MP requested the Government to heed the calls of the public and act accordingly. (NewsWire)
