The Sri Lanka Police has refuted reports circulating on social media platforms on the death of a protester.

Many reports were circulated on social media claiming that a youth, who stood up to the Police during the Mirihana Protest requesting the forces not to attack the innocent public, had died.

The reports claimed that the youth who had been assaulted by the Police during the protest, arrested, and hospitalised, had died due to the injuries sustained in the Police attack.

However, Sri Lanka Police has issued a statement, refuting the reports that are circulating on social media platforms.

The Police further said that all protesters who were arrested and admitted to the Colombo South Teaching Hospital in Kalubowila are alive, adding that no protester has died.

They also called on the public not to fall victim for such fake news. (NewsWire)
