The Police have fired tear gas and water cannons to disperse the public who had gathered in front of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa’s private residence, the Carlton House in Tangalle.

A public protest was held in Tangalle, similar to those being held across the country today, calling for President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and his Government to resign.

Earlier today, the protesters in Tangalle breached the barricades that were set up by the Police to prevent them from surrounding the Prime Minister’s private residence.

The Police have now resorted to using tear gas and water cannons to disperse the protesting public. (NewsWire)
