The sun will be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka from today until the 15th of April 2022, the Department of Meteorology said.
Issuing a statement, the department said on the apparent northward relative motion of the sun, it is going to be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka at about 12.13 pm today.
The nearest areas of Sri Lanka over which the sun will be overhead today are as follows: Welipenna, Moragala, Weddagala, Dolekanda, Pallebedda, Angunakolapelassa, and Mahirawa.
Meanwhile, the Met Department has predicted showers or thundershowers at several places over most parts of the island during the evening or night today.
The department said heavy showers above 100 mm can be expected at some places in the Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, North-western, and North-central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.
The public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. (NewsWire)
