An individual who had posted a message on social media on violence against the Police and Army has been arrested in the Thalawa area in Nagoda yesterday.
The Police said investigations had been conducted into a social media post that had called for the “Police and Army personnel to be beaten up and killed”.
The Nagoda Police that had conducted an investigation into the social media post had arrested the individual who had shared the message last afternoon. The suspect has been identified as a 36-year-old resident of Thalawa, Nagoda.
Further investigations have found that the man has been addicted to drugs over the last 06-months and also suffers from a mental illness.
The Police said the parents of the man had on multiple occasions admitted him to the Karapitiya and Mulleriyawa Hospitals for treatment, but had escaped prior to completing his treatment.
The suspect who was produced before the Baddegama Magistrate’s Court yesterday has been remanded till the 18th of April. (NewsWire)
