A tense situation was reported in Chilaw today following a confrontation between two groups of protesters.
The tense situation had erupted between a group of protesters supporting the government and other groups that were against the government.
A pro-government group had been led by State Minister Sanath Nishantha.
The Police and security forces had been deployed to disperse the protesters and contain the situation.
