Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa today reached out to the public protesting at the Galle Face Green in Colombo against the President and his Government.

The Prime Minister announced that the Government is willing to discuss with the youth who are engaged in protests at the Galle Face Green.

The public has been protesting at the Galle Face Green in front of the Presidential Secretariat for over 4 days, calling for a change in the regime due to the failed economy of the country.

The protest had been continuing day and night, with several of the public setting bases at the Galle Face Green calling for the President and his Government to step down.

Despite a recent national address by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, the first since the protest commenced, the public has been defiant and is continuing to call on the President and the Government to heed their demands and step down.

They blame the President and his regime for the failed economy which has severely affected the future of the younger generation and the livelihoods of the citizens. (NewsWire)
