Power & Energy Minister reveals two tough responsibilities

Cabinet Minister Kanchana Wijesekera has pointed out that as the newly appointed Minister of Power and Energy he has two tough responsibilities. 

Stating that the first duty is a difficult decision, Wijesekera said the fuel prices need to be revised to minimize the daily loss of Rs 1.6 billion.

He further said that priority in energy will be given to procuring fuel timely, making fuel widely available, and introducing a Fuel Price Formula.

The Minister said secondly, as the Minister of Power, priorities will be made to rectify the issues pertaining to the ministry.

“Priorities will be made to make adequate fuel available for power generation, restore uninterrupted power supply, speed up work on expansion projects and renewable energy, cost formula for power generation, utilize natural resources, and expand grid capacity,” Minister Wijesekera revealed.

He said no matter how tough or difficult the job and the decisions are, his intention will be to make the right decisions.

Minister Kanchana WIjesekera added that he hopes for the support of anyone who can contribute to rectifying the Power and Energy crisis faced today and implement a solid plan for the future. (NewsWire)
