Bangladesh former cricketer dies at 40

Former Bangladesh national team cricketer Mosharraf Hossain Rubel has passed away.

Mosharraf Hossain Rubel who had been battling cancer breathed his last on Tuesday.

The former Bangladesh cricketer was 40 at the time of his demise. 

The cricketer passed away at United Hospital this afternoon. Left-arm spinner Rubel was diagnosed with a brain tumor in March 2019.

However, Rubel recovered through treatment before his tumor resurfaced last year in January.

Rubel represented Bangladesh in five ODIs between 2008 to 2016 and claimed four wickets alongside scoring 26 runs.    

‘Rubel is no more among us. He passed away this afternoon at United Hospital. We are on the way to him,’ Rubel’s friend Sheikh Farid told New Age.

Recently Rubel was admitted to the city’s Square Hospitals after his situation deteriorated. Subsequently, he was released a couple of days back after his condition improved.

However, on Tuesday his physical condition worsened, and was taken to United Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead. (New Age)
