Thirteen (13) parliamentarians from the Government have made a joint request from President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to form an all-party interim government to address the current issues in Sri Lanka.

According to the Lankadeepa, the group of MPs had met the President at his official residence in Fort on Tuesday (19) and had handed over a letter.

The group had requested the President to appoint an all-party Cabinet under a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Prime Minister.

The 13 MPs have been identified as SLPP backbench parliamentarians.

In their letter, the MPs have warned that they will have to make a decision based on their conscience if the President fails to appoint an all-party interim government. (NewsWire)
