A special commemoration ceremony was held today to mark the 3rd anniversary of the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks in which over 250 people were killed and more than 500 people were injured.

A special mass was held in memory of the victims, which was attended by the Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence, Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith.

Church bells were rung across Sri Lanka to commemorate the victims of the attacks.

Addressing the special service, the Archbishop said the former President had failed in his duties by not taking into custody the ringleader of the attacks Zahran Hashim.

He further said the intentions of several groups to prevent the arrest of Zahran and his associates had resulted in causing such a tragedy to the Christian Community.

The Archbishop further condemned the authorities for continuing to turn a blind eye toward the call for justice from the Christian Community.

Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith said the current regime has failed to implement the recommendations of the Presidential Commission that was appointed to investigate the attacks.

He said by doing so, the current administration is attempting to prevent the truth behind the attacks from being revealed to the public.

Reiterating his calls to reveal the truth behind the attacks, he further warned that those who were behind the attacks will soon meet their punishment. (NewsWire)
