Italy has announced an in-kind emergency aid to the Government of Sri Lanka for the purchase of medicine and medical equipment.
The Embassy of Italy in Colombo said that the country will grant Rs 125 million to Sri Lanka for this purpose.
The contribution will be channeled through the Italian Bilateral Emergency Fund at the World Health Organization (WHO), the Embassy said in a statement.
The Italian Embassy added that payment to suppliers abroad will be allowed directly as per planned procurement by the Ministry of Health in line with the supply chain management process.
