Pope meets victims of Easter attacks

A group of victims of the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks in Sri Lanka met His Holiness Pope Francis in the Vatican, Rome today. 

His Holiness Pope Francis met the victims of the deadly attacks after a holy mass was held in the Vatican to pray for justice for the victims.

The holy mass was also held to pray for all the Sri Lankans who are suffering due to the failure of the Sri Lankan Government to resolve the current economic crisis.

The Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence, Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, and His Holiness Pope Francis presided over the holy mass that was held at St Peter’s Basilica today

The Archbishop left for the Vatican on Friday with a 60-member delegation including families of the 2019 Easter attack victims.

The group left for the Vatican on an invitation of Pope Francis, who had conveyed his solidarity with the community in Sri Lanka’s moment of crisis. 

On 21st April, Sri Lanka commemorated the 3rd anniversary of the Easter Sunday attacks that killed 269 and injured over 500 in 2019. (NewsWire)
