Police accused of not paying rent for Police station

The Kaduwela Police has been accused of defaulting on its rental payments for the building in which the police station is located and the living quarters of the relevant officers.

The owner of the building in which the Police station is situated has revealed that rental payments have not been paid for the last 10 months.

The man said the Kaduwela Police owes nearly Rs. 2 million rupees as of now.

Meanwhile, the owner of a house that has been allocated as the living quarters of the Kaduwela Police officers has also accused the police of failure to settle rental payments.

The man said the Police station has not settled its outstanding rental payments for the last 09 months.

Commenting on the matter, Police Spokesman Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (SDIG) Ajith Rohana said the Treasury has been requested to estimate the cost for the entire building, which was handed over in two parts to the Police station.

He further said following the estimation by the Treasury, outstanding payments will be settled. (NewsWire)
