The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has put forward one condition to attend the meeting called for by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to discuss the formation of an all-party interim government.

The SLFP said its attendance at the meeting tomorrow (29) depends on the implementation of its one key demand.

The party has called for the removal of State Ministers Shantha Bandara and Suren Raghavan from their ministerial portfolios.

“The SLFP has decided not to attend Friday’s (29) meeting with the President if Shantha Bandara and Suren Raghavan are not removed from their ministerial positions,” the party announced today.

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) recently quit the government and announced its decision to remain independent in Parliament until the government heeds its calls to appoint a caretaker government.

Despite quitting the government, SLFP MPs Shantha Bandara and Suren Raghavan accepted ministerial portfolios under the new Cabinet that was recently appointed by the President.

The party has now called for the removal of the two MPs in order for it to participate in the meeting called for by the President.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has invited the leaders of all parties representing the government, as well as the MPs who decided to remain independent in Parliament to attend the meeting.

The meeting has been called for to discuss the formation of an all-party interim government, following the resignation of the current Prime Minister and Cabinet. (NewsWire)
