Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera says operations are underway at the Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited (CPSTL) and depots.
Minister Wijesekara said operations pertaining to the distribution of fuel are underway at the CPSTL and depots.
He further said trains and both government-owned and dealer-owned tankers are being utilized for transposition.
However, certain private hired tanker members are seen obstructing tankers that have commenced deliveries, the Minister said.
The private hired tanker members are those from the Sri Lanka Petroleum Private Tanker Owners’ Association who are on strike since midnight on Saturday (30).
The Sri Lanka Petroleum Private Tanker Owners’ Association is engaged in a strike due to the failure of the discussion held with the subject Minister regarding the 60 percent increase in fares demanded by private fuel tanker owners. (NewsWire)
