Leader of the National Freedom Front (NFF) MP Wimal Weerawansa slammed the ‘Occupy Galle Face’ public protest that is underway at the Galle Face Green in Colombo for over 20 days against the President and the government.
Addressing a rally held yesterday to commemorate International Workers’ Day, MP Weerawansa said that anyone can be hailed as a hero by just attending the public protest.
Stating that it is not a big deal to become a great activist amidst a crisis, the MP added that at present ‘any jockey can become a hero if he goes to Galle Face’.
MP Weerawansa pointed out that political intervention is needed to prevent the crisis from becoming an oasis of anarchy and to use this as an opportunity to come out of the wrong path.
He added that his faction was ready to take over that role. (NewsWire)
