Sri Lanka to ink gas deal with Siam Gas, Thailand

The Cabinet has granted approval for the purchase of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) from Siam Gas Company in Thailand.

The Government said LP Gas will be purchased from the Thai company for a period of 01-year. 

The price at which LPG is to be purchased is US$ 09 less per Metric Tonne (MT) than the current supplier from Oman. 

The Government further said that Siam Gas Company from Thailand will supply 70% of Sri Lanka’s LP gas requirement per year. 

Sri Lanka is facing a severe gas shortage due to the current economic crisis which has resulted in the country running out of Dollars to purchase the necessary gas. (NewsWire)
