The Fort Magistrate has issued a court order for the removal of all belongings and vehicles of protesters near Temple Trees, in Colpetty.

The Magistrate has issued the order on the basis that these cause obstructions to pedestrians using the pavement and also cause inconvenience to the public.

The court order, however, says it does not prohibit peaceful protests that do not inconvenience the public.

Meanwhile, a Fundamental Rights (FR) petition has been filed in the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka pertaining to the protest near the Temple Trees.

The petition requests an order against the Prime Minister and the officials seeking the removal of vehicles parked on the pavement along with the protest site.

It also seeks an order against the use of loudspeakers and roadblocks set up obstructing the protesters. (NewsWire)
