Ranjith Siyambalapitya confirms that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has accepted his letter of resignation from the post of Deputy Speaker.
Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena announced that a vote to elect a new Deputy Speaker will be held tomorrow (05).
This will be the first vote to take place during Sri Lanka’s current crisis. It will also create the opportunity to ascertain who holds the majority in Parliament.
Both the Government and Opposition are expected to name nominees for the Deputy Speaker position. (NewsWire)
