Galadari Hotel Colombo and Taphouse by RNR restaurant are facing social media backlash over supporting police by providing statements against the protesters who are engaged in protests at the Gota Go Gama agitation site.
Fort police had filed a case at the Fort Magistrates court, requesting to issue an order to remove protesters and structures in and around the Galle Face Green area and opposite the Presidential secretariat.
Social activist and journalist Vimukthi Dushantha Rawanasinghe posted on Facebook yesterday that management of Galadari hotel and Taphouse restaurant and several employees of the Presidential secretariat have given statements in support of the Police.
According to the Police documents seen by NewsWire, representatives of both businesses have given statements to police that their businesses have been affected due to the current protests in Fort.
Social Media users have since then resorted to posting negative reviews against these establishments in Google, Facebook and other platforms and it has severely impacted the reviews of both above businesses within several hours. (NewsWire)
