Mahinda Rajapaksa today tendered his resignation from the designation of Prime Minister of Sri Lanka.
Mahinda Rajapaksa has handed over his letter of resignation to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
His resignation comes, after Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) supporters attacked peaceful anti-government protesters outside the Temple Trees and the Galle Face Green in Colombo today.
The incident caused unrest in the country with an islandwide curfew being imposed until further notice.
