Minister gives update on 95 petrol

The Ministry of Energy has released an update on the distribution of petrol in Sri Lanka over the next few days.

Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said that 95 Petrol will be released to fuel stations islandwide from today (23).

He further said that 95 Petrol stocks will be available for the next 6 weeks comfortably.

The Minister said this has been made possible as two cargo vessels containing the necessary fuel have been unloaded.

Minister Kanchana Wijesekera also requested users of 95 petrol not to stay in lines to obtain 92 Petrol.

He said 95 Petrol will be available from tomorrow and for users to obtain it from fuel stations thereafter. 

Sri Lanka is currently facing a severe shortage of fuel, especially petrol.

The public has been witnessed standing in queues for several hours in a bid to obtain the necessary stocks of fuel. (NewsWire)
