Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Sanath Nishantha has been caught on camera attempting to allegedly assault Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) MP Vijitha Herath while in Parliament.
The incident is reported to have taken place on Friday (20) when MP Nishantha had attended Parliament sittings from prison.
He is currently remanded over his involvement in the SLPP-led attacks on anti-government protesters near the Temple Trees and the Galle Face Green in Colombo on 09th May.
MP Nishantha was caught on camera trying to approach MP Vijitha Herath in a threatening manner during a heated argument over the torching of houses during the unrest that broke out following the SLPP attack on protesters.
He was later seen being prevented by Parliament security and escorted back to the ruling party benches.
