The Minister of Energy has requested the public not to purchase petroleum products from third parties.

Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said investigations have revealed that individuals engaged in collecting fuel are mixing petroleum products with other liquids to sell at higher rates.

Therefore, the Minister urged the public not to encourage such businesses.

Minister Kanchana Wijesekera called on the public to report those engaged in such acts in a Twitter message.

Concerns have been raised by the public on the issuance of sub-standard fuel, with many claiming it has severely affected their vehicles.
