Galle Face attack : Johnston named suspect

Several Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna MPs and loyalists who were arrested over the May 09 unrest in Sri Lanka have been further remanded. 

MPs Sanath Nishantha and Milan Jayathilaka, SLPP trade unionist Wasantha Handapangoda, and ten others have been further remanded till the 08th of June. 

The suspects were further remanded by the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court today. 

Meanwhile, former Minister Johnston Fernando and SLPP loyalist Mahinda Kahandagama have also been named as suspects in the case pertaining to the May 09 unrest. 

The Attorney General told the Fort Magistrate’s Court that they will be named as suspects in the case filed over the attacks on anti-government protesters near the Temple Trees and at the Galle Face Green in Colombo.

A travel ban has already been imposed by the court against MPs Johnston Fernando, Namal Rajapaksa, former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, and 14 others over the incident. (NewsWire)
