Announcing one’s self as an independent MP has become the latest fashion in Parliament at present, Tamil National Alliance (TNA) MP M. A. Sumanthiran said today.
Speaking in Parliament, the MP said the Parliament no longer consists of a government side or an opposition side and instead consists of independent MPs.
“Our system is that of government and opposition. This government has failed if it says everybody sitting here is an independent MP,” he pointed out.
Stating that the Parliament has lost its mandate, MP Sumanthiran said it now just consists of several groups within the government.
The TNA MP said until and unless the Parliament is set right, the government will not even begin to address the economic crisis.
“How can you have political stability in this country with this Parliament of independent MPs? We must understand that we are part of a problem now,” he added. (NewsWire)
