24,000kg of Apples abandoned by importers given to Dehiwela Zoo

A container consisting of imported apples was handed over to the National Zoological Gardens of Sri Lanka in Dehiwala today.

A decision was taken to hand over the container consisting of 24,000 kilos of imported apples which are reportedly worth Rs. 20 million

The container had been stuck at the Colombo Port due to an increase in import taxes, resulting in the owner rejecting the goods.

Thereby, a decision was taken by the authorities to provide the imported apples to the Dehiwala Zoo. (NewsWire)
