The Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) MMC Ferdinando has tendered his resignation.

Minister of Energy Kanchana Wijesekera said that he has accepted Ferdinando’s letter of resignation.

He further said that CEB Vice-Chairman Nalinda Illangakoon will take over as the new Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board.

MMC Ferdinando made headlines over the weekend after making a controversial statement regarding the Mannar Wind and Solar Project involving Adani Green Energy Ltd.

Ferdinando had alleged that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had pressurized President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to award the power project to the Adani Group.

He later withdrew the comment and apologized. (NewsWire)
