Four persons have been arrested for abducting a woman and seeking ransom in the Warikuttur area in Poovarasankulam in the Northern Province.
The men had abducted the woman and had placed her at a house in the area after which they had called the victim’s daughter and sought a ransom of Rs. 500,000 for her release.
The suspects had also informed that they will open fire on the victim if the ransom is not paid.
The Police had arrested the suspects in the guise of sending the victim’s daughter to settle the requested payment. They had also rescued the victim following the arrest of the four suspects.
The suspects are aged between 26 and 49 years and are residents of Vavuniya, Kilinochchi, and Mullaitivu.
They will be produced before the Vavuniya Magistrate’s Court, while the Poovarasankulam Police is conducting further investigations. (NewsWire)
