Several more protests have been reported today as well demanding fuel.

The High-Level Road has been obstructed from Delkanda, Nugegoda, while the road leading to Slave Island has been obstructed from Union Place by protestors.

Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion.

Meanwhile, a 53-year-old man had died while waiting in queue for several hours at a fuel station in Wekada, Panadura last night.

The man is suspected to have died of a heart attack while waiting in the queue in his three-wheeler since last morning.

The incident had occurred while his son had been in the motorcycle queue at the same fuel station.

The fuel crisis in Sri Lanka is worsening affecting several sectors and severely inconveniencing the public.

Ride-hailing apps have revealed that they are unable to allocate drivers for customers.

Bus Associations have also reduced the number of buses plying on the road affecting public transportation, while a shortage of engine oil threatens the future operations of train services.

Motorists have been standing in queues for days at fuel stations across the country and the livelihoods of fishermen have been severely affected as they are unable to venture out to sea due to a lack of fuel. (NewsWire)
