Parliament proceedings scheduled for this week have been reduced to two days, Leader of the House Minister Dinesh Gunawardena announced today.

This week’s Parliament session was set to be conducted till Friday, the 24th of June.

However, the Parliamentary Business Committee has decided to hold Parliament sittings only today and tomorrow (22).

Minister Gunawardena said the decision has been taken after taking into consideration the current fuel crisis.

Earlier today, opposition parties, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and National People’s Power (NPP) had announced that they will boycott Parliament proceeds scheduled for this week.

Both parties had revealed that the Parliament sessions held thus far had failed to benefit the public or improve their livelihoods, while the government has failed to resolve the current crises in the country. (NewsWire)
