A teacher in Mullaitivu has been arrested on charges of sextortion involving 08 underage female students from a school in the area, The Morning reported.
Investigations have revealed that he had allegedly raped two of the students, aged 13 and 17, while they were unconscious.
The Police said a complaint had been lodged on 19th June against the teacher and 06 male students from the Advanced Level class of the same school for the possession of nude photographs and videos of female students.
The complainant also provided video and photo evidence to the Police against the suspects.
The teacher arrested in connection to the offence is an administrative officer and a private tutor who conducted maths tuition at home which granted him access to the students.
The suspect is said to have provided sweets filled with drugs for the children in order to make them unconscious and had engaged in sexual activities, while he had also recorded it to later blackmail the students for further sexual favours.
The incidents had occurred when the children’s parents were mostly away from home and the video and photographs had been shared between the teacher and male students.
Medical reports have revealed that the 17-year-old girl had been raped once back in December 2020 and had attempted suicide twice, while the 13-year-old had been raped multiple times.
The suspect has been arrested and remanded until the 17th of July, while the six male students who had engaged in sharing the video and photographs have been released on bail. (NewsWire)
