The rollout of the National Fuel Pass system with QR codes to supply fuel has been further delayed.
The National Fuel Pass system was to be implemented islandwide from today in a bid to ease the fuel queues in Sri Lanka.
However, the testing of the pilot project which was conducted from the 21st to the 24th of July is to continue today as well.
The Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) says the National Fuel Pass system is expected to be carried out only at a few selected filling stations today.
The Director of the ICTA Dasun Hegoda has revealed that the system will take a few more days to be implemented across the island, adding that its aim is to gradually expand this as a pilot project across the island in several stages.
Having successfully implemented the pilot project in a few selected locations, it has been implemented in several areas around Colombo, he said.
According to Dasun Hegoda, the National Fuel Pass system has been implemented as a pilot project in 25 filling stations covering all 25 districts, and the ICTA hopes to implement this system within the next few days. (NewsWire)
