The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has decided to vote against the proclamation of the state of emergency that was declared by President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The proclamation of the state of emergency will be taken up for debate in Parliament tomorrow after which a vote will be held.

According to the legal provisions, if the approval of the Parliament is not obtained within 14 days for the said proclamation, it will be cancelled.

The SJB, its Parliamentary Group, and it’s Working Committee that met today have decided to vote against the proclamation of the state of emergency in Parliament tomorrow.

The party has also announced that it will not work together with the new government which has unleashed state-sponsored terrorism on the people and has failed to resolve the issues faced by the people.

The SJB further said that, however, it will extend its support for Parliamentary committees that are appointed within the parliamentary democracy to address the people’s needs. (NewsWire)
